The ‘men of St Agnes’ successfully fed pancakes, ham and sausages to about 90 people at the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake supper on March 4. We were joined by several friends from nearby St Clement’s Anglican Church, as well as the members of the 6th St Agnes Seymour Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Ventures.
Constable Alison Hill of the Vancouver Police Department offered practical advice on safety for seniors at our monthly “Senior’s Moment” lunch. Constable Hill is a member of our church and came to visit us on her day off – many thanks for a great presentation!
Our monthly Senior’s Moment lunches are on the third Friday of every month and are provided by Sharing Abundance, the food ministry of our Deacon Lizz Lindsay.
The Sixth St Agnes Seymour Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Ventures joined us on February 23 for our annual “Scout’s Sunday.” The younger ones gathered around Father Stephen to hear a story, then joined the Sunday school for some Olympics themed activities in the hall. We will have them back next week for Shrove Tuesday when they will enjoy pancakes prepared by the “Men of St Agnes.” All are invited to join us next Tuesday, March 4 at 5:30 pm.
Our entrance door windows are the creation of John and Laura Gilroy, two skilled stained glass artisans who live and work in Vancouver. These custom designed windows are a memorial to Dick and Brenda Roberts who were longtime members of our church. They were both very warm and welcoming people who made people feel glad they had come to our church. For this reason we thought it appropriate to renew our front entrance with beautiful and welcoming doors and windows.
Thanks to Wendy Matsubuchi for these great photos!
On Sunday, September 29 we celebrated the Feast of St Michael and All Angles with the baptism of Neil Parry and his daughter Samantha.
